Who?
Hey! I’m Molly (she/her) an animator filmmaker and writer. I’m LA-based and NY-born.
I got my start in animation while working on a documentary called Gameshow Dynamos (2015) and have written and designed for Elisabeth Subrin's feminist blog Who Cares About Actresses?
In my time at USC, I worked closely with scientists from different disciplines such as biology, oceanography, chemistry and physics. Through this, I worked as an outreach artist and filmmaker aboard a 2017 oceanography expedition, making illustrations and films related to the team’s findings on climate change. Since then, I have gone to win awards from The Sloan and Breakthrough Foundations for my films about science. I even had the honor of being commissioned to direct and animate a film about Nobel Laureate (physicist) Steven Weinberg.
I have made cartoons and illustrations that have been featured in The Atlantic and The New Yorker and animations have screened at international festivals such as Palm Springs ShortFest (A Hole, writer/director) and SXSW (I’m Fine Thanks for Asking, animator). A Hole is also showcased as part of The Museum of the Moving Image’s collection.
Most recently, I worked as an animator and motion capture performer on Barry Jenkins' Mufasa production (set to come out December 2024!). I have a live action / animation hybrid film gearing up for the festival circuit and more short form comics on the way…
